Lorraine                                               President Lorraine

Hello Golden Group, I hope everybody enjoyed our May Day luncheon, what a glorious day it was. In other parts of the world it would have been a super Spring day. Hard to believe we are heading into Winter.

We had 100 members and guests attending this month, a wonderful turn-out from the group. Although it was a huge attendance it did not quite equal are best, which was a whopping 117, it was really tight squeeze that day.

President Lorraine opened the meeting with the story of her rising at 5.30 a.m. on Anzac Day, so that she and her grand-daughter could attend the dawn parade. They could hear the band Ok, but could not hear the speakers adequately, so missed out on what was being said. There were so many people there, including lots of families, making the queue extremely long for the Army catered breakfast, so they headed back home. Not to be daunted by the experience they both headed back for the 9.a.m. service, arriving early enough to get in front so they could see and hear everything. Well done Lorraine.

The trip to Napier.

Everything has been organised for our five day Annual Trip, this year we will be visiting and meeting with the people of Napier and their clubs and historic attractions. We will be leaving Paraparaumu, from the Kapiti Club, at 9.a.m. on November 11th, stopping at Palmerston North for morning tea. Next stop will be Dannevirke, visiting the Reed Organ Museum followed by lunch and a trip to Fantasy Cave.

We will be staying at the Viceroy Hotel in Napier, this Hotel has been recently renovated and can offer us all the access we need for the not so able members. It is located in the heart of Napier and for the more able folk is just 7 minutes’ walk from Hawke’s Bay Museum. It is 10 minutes’ drive from Mission Estate Winery, Church Road Winery, and also 7 minutes walk from the waterfront at Marine Parade.

Dont panic about all this talk of walking, Dennis, our bus driver will give you a tour of the Art Deco area’s, and give a running commentary on the history of the town. Other attractions on our list include Te Mata Peak, The Chocolate Factory and Museum and of course going to other clubs.

Please get your name down on the list early if you want to go, the bus is limited to 32 people so if you have not already done so, call Lorraine, 902 5269, or email,  to get your name safely on the list.

Thats all for now, if you have any comments to make or questions to ask please use the comments section on this blog, or if you prefer email;
