Ashhurst Bus Trip. May 2014.

The bust trip to Ashhurst was a great success, the inclement weather at the beginning of the day was not too much of a problem and everyone had a great time. We have received a wonderful donation from Pub Charity towards the costs of the transportation, for which we are truly thankful.

Gill Graham our trip organizer did a wonderful job and can be rightly proud of her success. Gill has written a report on the trip which is posted below.

Golden Group Trip to Ashhurst Wednesday 14th May 2014

After a very wet night  we went on my first bus trip as convener, to Manawatu, with Dennis our faithful driver from Peka Peka Coaches.

After a comfort stop at Shannon we arrived at the Herb Farm in Ashhurst in time for a walk around the gardens before lunch. It was a bit wet underfoot but I found the gardens enchanting, with gnomes, hobbits and fairies hiding in the trees, a great place to take the grandchildren. There was a shop selling herbal beauty products and a cafe.

After a light lunch there we went to Palmerston North. Our retail therapy started at Ezibuy, where many of us purchased clothes with a 20% discount. Then onto Manawatu Knitting Mills where we had more shopping for beautiful Merino and Possum goods. We also had a cup of tea there and a final comfort stop before heading home.

Here are some pics of the departure, and as you can see it had stopped raining already:

The last pic is of  Tania a Kapiti Club Member who is also a cabbie, who dropped off one of our trippers, she wished she could have come on the trip with us.
